THE YACHT

A sport yacht with a distinctly Italian point of view.

The appeal of the Gladiator 493 starts with its proportions. A low, purposeful profile gives way to an open walkaround deck, generous places to lounge and a cockpit designed for company. It has the freedom of a center console and the presence of a luxury sport yacht.

This 2023 example brings that design together with triple 600-horsepower Mercury V12 outboards, two cabins and an equipment list that includes gyro stabilization, a bow thruster, an onboard generator and FLIR. It is a compelling combination for an owner who wants more from a 49-footer than speed alone.

Offered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this yacht is listed with 110 engine hours. Confirm current readings, service records and equipment details with Joe before arranging your inspection.

LIFE ABOARD

Long afternoons. Unhurried weekends.

The best feature is how naturally the spaces work together. Step aboard for an afternoon with friends, stay for sunset, and keep the weekend open.

An open deck made for company.

The cockpit lounge creates a natural gathering place, with a full wet bar close at hand. Forward, the generous sunpad offers another place to stretch out, while the walkaround layout connects the two without making the day feel crowded.

Comfort that continues below deck.

Two bespoke cabins, a full head and a private shower give the 493 real overnight appeal. Carefully finished woodwork, tailored upholstery and well-arranged storage bring the same Italian character below that defines the exterior.

Equipment with a purpose.

Gyro stabilization adds comfort to time aboard. A bow thruster supports close-quarters maneuvering, while the generator and carbon-fiber helm suite with FLIR round out a specification designed for more than a quick run.

CANADOS · EST. 1946

Eight decades of Italian craftsmanship.

Canados’ story began in 1946 in Ostia, near Rome. The yard’s early vessels served the Italian Navy, Coast Guard and harbor authorities. That practical foundation developed into a tradition of private yacht construction, with skilled craftsmanship at its center.

According to the shipyard’s history, a royal representative’s interest in its work led to a private yacht commission in 1953. More than 800 yacht deliveries followed. The Gladiator 493 carries that experience into a thoroughly modern format, pairing open-air living with the detail and finish associated with a much larger yacht.

It is visible in the upholstery, the woodwork and the way each space has been considered. The 493 feels coherent, from the protected helm to the cockpit lounge and overnight accommodation. That is where its Italian character becomes more than a styling exercise.

In its sea trial of another Gladiator 493 Grand configuration, Barche highlighted the carefully finished fittings, experienced woodworking and comfortable handling. Those observations speak to the model’s underlying craft; this yacht’s performance should be assessed in its own survey and sea trial.
